About Richard Dent
He was a private in the War of 1812, wounded at Chalibre Swamps. In the Seminole War of 1817-1818 he was a Captain of artillery. He and his wife settled on land given them by her father in Oglethorope County, GA. The Census of 1820 shows them there with five males, six females and 14 negro slaves.
