• Son of Reginald Godfrey Laurence Oliphant of Condie, younger and Joan Rosalind Mary Lawrence.
• Married, firstly, Jane Margarita Collins, daughter of William Janson Collins and Lady Sara Elena Hely Hutchinson, on 29 July 1976. He and Jane Margarita Collins were divorced in 1981.
• Married, secondly, Lucy Rebecca Cole, daughter of Charles Howard Cole and Georgina Susan Farnham, on 2 September 1995. He and Lucy Rebecca Cole were divorced on 22 April 2015.
• Educated at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.
• Graduated from Durham University, Durham, County Durham, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Honours).
• He lived in 2003 at 1b Kylerhea, Breakish, Isle of Skye, Scotland.
• Held the position of Chief of the Name and Arms of Oliphant on 12 June 2003. so recognised by Lord Lyon's warrant as also heir male of the body of Lord Oliphant.
