Richard married Mary (Yancey?) Estes in 1726 in Hanover County, VA. Together they had the following children: Mary "Sarah" Johnson (Estes) Gentry; Letisha (Estes) Rice; Richard Estes; Charles Yancey Estes, Sr.; Reuben Estes; Abraham Estes; Sylvester Estes.
He died on February 13, 1743 in Hanover, Hanover County, Virginia, United States and was buried in February 1744 in Hanover, Hanover, Virginia, United States.
He and his wife lived in Hanover (now Louisa) County, Virginia. They were active in Trinity Church in Fredericksville Parish.
