Notes

From Sally's FamilyPlace website:

"There is a record of a Richard Moore and his four sons, Richard Moore, John Moore, BENTON MOORE and William Moore, in the records of Bertie County in the Granville District of North Carolina beginning in 1725. This Richard Moore, late of Nansemond County , Virginia, had died by 1725 [1718]. The records are taken from Mary Best Bell, (granddaughter of Nottoway John Williams) Colonial Bertie County, North Carolina Bertie Deed Book s A-H, 1720-1757 (2nd Edition, Southern Historical Press, 1963”

?When Richard Moore was born on October 21, 1641, in Prince George, Virginia, his father, William, was 22 and his mother, SARAH, was 17. He had 17 children. He died on August 2, 1727, in his hometown, having lived a long life of 85 years.:?

"Concerning Richard Moore's wife, Elizabeth Benton (possibly): my great Grandfather, who is a direct descendent of this couple, was named "Benjamin Benton Bruton". Since there was no Benton connection to the Bruton family, and there possibly was to Benjamin's mother, Lavina Scott, (Scott/Jones/Moore, VA to Bertie Co NC to TN, including Richard Moore), my current theory is that Elizabeth Benton is the correct wife for Richard Moore who moved to Bertie Co NC.”
