John Creek Moore was born in Cheepoake Crk., W. of Dismal swamp, Virginia, British Colonial America. His parents were Thomas Moore and White, Progenitor of Carter and Moore. He was a Fur trader under John Rice Hooe, 2, Nottoway Cheraw.

John married Elizabeth (Brown) Moore. Together they had the following children: Elizabeth (Moore) Parker; Thomas Richard Moore, of St. Mary’s, MD.

John married NN Moore. Together they had the following children: Mary (Moore) Harris.

He died in 1692 in Stafford County, VA, United States.

Nottoway Cheraw recorded by Lederer as "Natoway". Self termed, "Old Cheraw" and pronounced "She Raw"as passed down to the Old Cheraw who named Cheraw, MS and called themselves that name:
