About Richard Dean Tomlin

Dick Tomlin "PaPa" PaPa returned to his Heavenly Father July 28, 2006. He was born Sept. 1, 1934 to Dean and Phyllis Gee Tomlin in Salt Lake. He attended Cyprus High School, class of 1952, and graduated from Trade Tech. Dick married his love, Shirlene Carlson, April 17, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. After 32 years he retired as a journeyman electrician from Kennecott. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, and especially being in what he called "God's Country" (Scofield) with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife; six children, David, Las Vegas, Jim (Terri), Paonia, CO, Ted, West Jordan, Lila (Scott) Sundell, South Jordan, Judy (Steve) Ferguson, and Jay (Kerry), West Valley; sister, Barbara Bell, Erda, UT; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; stepbrother, Joe; daughters-in-law, Julie and Jackie; and special family friends, Linda and Kim. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Marjorie; grandson, Jesse; and stepbrother, Dale. A celebration of Dick's life will be held Wed, Aug. 2, 2006 at 12 noon. Friends may call Tues, Aug. 1, 6-8 p.m. and Wed. 11 a.m.-12 noon at Taylorsgrove Ward, 4845 So. Woodhaven Dr. (1300 W). Papa's ashes will be placed in "God's Country" at a later date.
