INFORMATION BELOW IS DISPUTED.

From http://www.fmoran.com/ward.html

According to the Ward family history, the Wards of Connecticut and New Jersey are descended from Robert Ward of Houghton Parva of Houghton Pavoa, Northampton, England (Sic: Houghton Parva, Northamptonshire). Robert Ward married Isabel Ward of Dunchurch, County Warwick, England and named their son, James. James married Anna or Alice Fawkes of Dunchurch. Their children: Stephen, Isabel, George and Lawrence.

Their son, Stephen Ward, who was born about 1585, married Joyce Trafford of Lucestershire (Sic: Leicestershire) England about 1607. After Stephen's death, his widow Joyce Ward moved to New England with her sons Anthony, John, William, and Robert in 1630. They settled in Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1635, where Joyce Ward died in 1640. The source of the "Stephen" name for Joyce Ward's husband apparently was "family records" of Judge Marcus Ward, who wrote in the Boston Transcript around 1912 that he was direct descendent of widow Ward of Wethersfield and her husband Stephen.

Disconnected from Parents: James Ward, Anna Fawkes March 2016. There seems to be a serious problem with the pedigree; there is no Richard son of James.
