  • Robert Anderson II received 1200 acres in about 1690 for importing twenty-five people. Robert took over the administration of 727 acres in the Goldmine Plantation from his father on 23 oct 1690 and in 1712 he inherited them from his father. Goldmine Plantation was located in New Kent County, Virginia (today it the area is within Hanover County).
  • He was Captain in Hanover County Militia. Through acquisitions, his sons built the 5000 acre "Goldmine" Plantation, named after a passing stream. Robert was a 1703 Vestryman of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent, and Justice of New Kent in 1714. This Goldmine Plantation, part of which, since 1984 is now land of the Missionary Learning Center (MLC) of the International Mission Board, SBC, near Rockville.     • 1. Robert Anderson, b. ca 1640 New Kent Co., Va., d. 1712, aged abt 72 years. On Oct. 23, 1690, he took over the 727 acres in New Kent Co. which had been relinquished by his father, Richard Anderson. On the same date, he recd 1200 acres for transporting 24 persons. In 1702 he was listed as vestryman of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co., as well as 1686. He m. Cecelia, believed to be dau. of David Massie and his wife, Lucelia Poindexter, according to Historical Southern Families by Boddie, V. XV, P. 202. Issue follows: Richard; David; Matthew; John; Thomas; Nelson; Mary; Cecelia and Robert Jr.
      • i. Robert Anderson, Jr. who d. 1716, aged abt 53 years. Quoting from V. Xv, P. 202, Historical Southern Families by Boddie:
    • "On Oct. 23, 1690 he took over the 727 acres in New Kent County which had been relinquished by his father." Further, "Robert Anderson, Jr. married Mary Overton ... She was born June 28, 1673, the daughter of William Overton ... who was born in England December 3, 1638 and married Elizabeth Waters on November 24, 1670 (daughter of Samuel and Ann Waters of London). This marriage of William Overton and Elizabeth Waters is proved by the Will of Ann Waters, widow, of the Parish of St. Sepulchre in London dated September 29, 1697 and probated July 1700 by her son, Thomas Waters."

ROBERT ANDERSON II ( Robert 3, Richard 2, Richard 1) was born 1663 in New Kent Co., Va. and died 1716 in New Kent Co., Va. He married MARY ELIZABETH OVERTON about 1690. She was born June 28, 1673 in England, and died 1734 in New Kent Co., Va. She is the daughter of WILLIAM OVERTON AND MARY WATERS. (See Overton family below) More about Mary Elizabeth Overton: Fact 1: June 08, 1673, 7-3694 - Mary Overton's mother was Mary Elizabeth Waters. Fact 2: June 28, 1673, 7-2853 - Elizabeth Overton's mother was Mary Elizabeth Waters. Fact 3: December 31, 1997, The daughter apparently was given both of mothers "given" names (not unusual). Fact 4: The names, Mary, Elizabeth, and Beth are found on various records apparently regarding this same person.
