ROBERT BAIRD

Robert Baird, here treated, is the son of William Baird, Mason in Paisley. The name of his mother is not mentioned in his baptismal record but it seems quite likely, probable even, that he is the son of Janet Stewart, who was booked to marry his father on 1 February 1690, at Abbey parish in Renfrewshire, Scotland. [National Records of Scotland, Abbey Marriages, 1670-1707, reference OPR.559/1] He was born before 19 February 1693, the date upon which his baptism was registered at Abbey parish in Renfrewshire, Scotland. His baptismal record reads as follows: "Robert Baird sone to William Baird masone in Paislay born their & baptised the 19 Witt: Gabriel Wilsone & James Mudi".
