About Robert Edward Fillmore Knott

Robert Edward Knott, 86, a lifelong resident of the Mt. Solon Community, died Wednesday morning at 11:30 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two days. He had been in failing health for the past year and in the Hospital three times in the past year.

Mr. Knott spent his entire life as a farmer, and was custodian of the Mt. Zion EUB Church for 25 years. He was a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Church, and was an active member.

A son of the late Cornelius and Lydia Stoutamyer Knott, he was born on March 11, 1871 near Mt. Solon.

On March 12, 1898 he married Pearl Virginia Huffer who survives along with the following children: Mrs. G. R. Greer, of Bel Air, Md.; Forrest T. Knott, J. Frank Knott, James W. Knott, Miss Mary Knott and Mrs. E. P. Michael, all of Mt. Solon; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Heatwole of Spring Creek, and one brother, Cleve Knott, of Mt. Solon; and 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides Mr. Knott's parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters; and two daughters, Winnolia E. and Christiana V. Knott.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two-thirty from the Mt. Zion EUB Church. The Rev. J. W. Tinsman will have charge of the services, assisted by the Rev. Carl Hinkle, with burial in the church cemetery.

The body will remain at the Rosenberger Funeral Home until nine o’clock Friday morning when it will be removed to his late home.

Relatives and pallbearers are asked to meet at the late home Saturday afternnoon at two o’clock.
