Not the son of William "the Scottish Rebel" Lawson

This Robert Lawson who married Anna Goad was once suspected to be a son of William Lawson of Scott Co, VA who we refer to as "The Scottish Rebel." Modern day DNA testing on suspected male descendants has shown no blood relation. Along with this DNA testing, church records, land records, tax lists and census are showing a strong connection of Robert to Randolph Lawson and the group of Lawson's referred to for DNA purposes as "The Falling River Lawson's".

Montgomery County Court Records. In council meeting 28 April 1778. Capt. Jonathan Isom's Company, division Role - Abram Goad, Randolph Lawson, Robert Lawson, Robert Lawson Jr., James Goad and James Goad Sr. Randolph Lawson is a known Falling River Lawson and I believe the above two Roberts were part of that group also. You will note on the maps of Virginia for this period of time, Montgomery County is next to Henry County, VA.

In the 1789 and 1790 Henry County, VA Personal Property Tax Records you will find a Robert Lawson listed with other Falling River Lawson. See: - http://lawsondna.org/Media/virginiacounties/Henry.html This does indicate the Falling River Lawsons were using the name of Robert in naming their children. This could even be one of the Roberts we find earlier in Montgomery County, VA.
