About Robert Mason, Jr

From researcher, Bud Mason barber98@bellsouth.net 8/19/09 If Samuel Mason, Lucinda's husband, was the oldest son of Robert Mason, Jr., then Robert Jr. was NOT one of the 4 younger males in the household of Robert Mason, Sr. in 1800 because Robert Jr. was already married at that time, since Samuel was, necessarily born before 1800. We're pretty sure that one of those 4 younger males, in Robert Sr.'s 1800 household, was Warren. Another was, most assuredly, James, who was living near Robert Jr. in Iredell Co., NC in 1810. I believe that it's possible that James was the husband of the Polly Mason, who appeared on the 1830 census of Spartanburg Co. If so, her maiden name was probably Wood, & she was probably the daughter of Henry Wood. Another of those younger males was probably Jordan, Robert's nephew, & the 4th one was probably the other J. Mason, who appeared on the 1810 Greenville Co. census. His name was likely John, & he was probably the father of Thomas Nelson Mason, Guilford Mason, & others.

The below are probably unrelated:

From researcher Bud Mason: I believe the Robert Mason mentioned in that 1850 Pickens District document was the same Robert Mason you found at that church, who was married to Elizabeth. These 3 Masons may have somehow been related to ours, but if so, I've seen nothing that would connect them.

The South Carolina Magazine of Ancestral Research, Volume XX, Number 1, Winter, 1992. Records of the Price William Primitive Baptist Church, 1812-1912 (Continued from Volume XIX, p. 187). 15 Dec. 1821. A negro woman named NAN, the property of ROBERT MASON was received to be baptised tomorrow.

Met in conference and after a sermon, proceeded to business. A few confessions made. A door for experience was opened. Robert Mason and Elizabeth Mason came forward and was received and appointed to be baptised tomorrow. Dismissed in order.
