MEMORIAL PHOTOS 1 FLOWERS 12 Robert McCall was the patriarch of the Caldwell County, North Carolina, McCalls. He was born in County Antrim Ireland and came to Pennsylvania with his wife, Elizabeth Aiken around 1775. He is said to have fought in the American Revolution under General Daniel Morgan.
According to genealogy in the publication THE McCALLS in AMERICA, Elizabeth and Robert McCall had these children: Margaret, who married John Shell (the Shell's son is buried to the left of Robert McCall); William, married Mildred Holland; Samuel, married Sarah Shell; John, married Phoebe Smith; James, married Katie Kincaid; Elizabeth, married Andrew Hull Tuttle; Robert, married Lydia Gillespie; Jessie, married Benedict Bristol; Nancy, not married; Henry, married Jane Rector; Alexander, married Mary Cryder.
There are many stories and legends about Robert McCall, including that he had to sneak his wife Elizabeth through a window to marry her because she was of royal blood.
Another story says that while in Ireland he was converted to Methodism by founder John Wesley himself.
