Robert Morton was the second son of Charles Morton of Bawtry and heir to his elder brother Charles.

He married

  • first to Ales, daughter of Sir John Markham of Cottam in Nottinghamshire and
  • second to Anne, daughter of John Norton of Norton Conyers. [1] Widow of Robert Plumpton.

By his first wife he had these children:

  1. John, son and heir, died without issue
  2. Anthony, 2nd son, married Mary.
  3. Anne, died young

By his second wife he then had:

  1. Robert, 3rd son
  2. Sampson, 4th son
  3. Danyell, 5th son
  4. Elizabeth, died young

Robert Morton of Bawtrie made his will 24 July 1574 which was proved at York 20 January 1575 [2].
