About Robert Rayner, Convict "Burrell" 1830
Robert Rayner was transported for 7 years for stealing shoes. On arrival he was assigned to work 'on roads;. He obtained his Certificate of Freedom in 1838 and c1847 he became involved with Diana, an aboriginal who was married to Williams Phillips. Three children were born at Grattai before they moved to Piambong where Robert acquired 90 acres of land some in partnership with Edward Cover of Grattai. Mary Cummings, (formerly Christie) was the sister of Edward Cover's wife Sussanah. Robert Cover was an inkeeper at Grattai who had a partnership with Robert Rayner with regard to land and other property at Piambong. Robert died as a result od an accident when a dray passed over him.

Convict who arrived on the "Burrell" on 19th of December 1830.
Accidentally killed by a dray running over him. The undertaker was John BLACKHALL, husband of Robert's daughter Elizabeth.
Robert was also involved with Mary CUMMINGS (CHRISTIE).
Mary was the sister of Susannah, the wife of Robert's business partner, Edward COVER
Mary was born on 6 April 1822 Windsor to William CHRISTIE and Mary Ann JONES.
She had two children with Robert:
