About Robert Stewart
ROBERT STEWART (aka ROBERT STEWARD)
Robert Stewart is the lawful son of Sir John Stewart of Minto. The name of his mother has not been identified. Glasgow Protocols, VI, Henry Gibsone's Protocols, 1568-73, protocol number 1790 on pp. 67-8 On 8 September 1571, John Stewart, bastard son of Sir John Stewart of Minto, acting as procurator for Robert Stewart, lawful son of Sir John Stewart of Minto, sold one half acre of land in Dowhill to John Mure, flesher, citizen of Glasgow. 8 September 1571: John Steward, son natural of John Steward of Mynto, knight, procurator and in name of Robert Steward, lawful son of the said John Steward of Mynto, resigned in favour of John Mure, flesher (lanionis), citizen, a half acre of arable land, lying discontiguous in the croft called Dowhill, one rood of which lay between the lands of q. John Herbertsoun on the east, and the lands occupied by q. David Spreull on the west, and the other rood lay between the lands occupied by John Mure on the east, and the lands of Andrew Heriott on the west. Sasine given by James Flemyng, bailie.
