SIR ROBERT DE EVERINGHAM, of Laxton, Notts, Everingham, Kipling Cotes, and Sherburn, co. York, Westborough, co. Lincoln, &c., son and heir of Sir Adam DE EVERINGHAM, of the same (who died 8 December 1280) (c), by his 1st wife, whose name is unknown (a). He did homage and had livery of his father's lands, 9 February 1280/1, being then aged 24. He was summoned for Military Service frorn 6 April 1282 to 14 March 1282, to attend the King at Shrewsbury, 28 June 1283, and to a Military Council, 14 June 1287, by writs directed Roberto de Everingham. He was sometirne hereditary Keeper of Sherwood Forest.
He married, in or before 1271, Alice DE LA HYDE, daughter of [Robert DE LA HYDE, it is said] by Cecily (to whom she was coheir), daughter of Sir William WALERAND, of Longford, Wilts, Siston and Frampton Cotterell, co. Gloucester, &c. He died shortly before 21 July 1287. On that day his widow was given the manor of Everingham to hold in tenancy till her dower was assigned, i.e., till 11 September following. She married Sir Thomas DE NORMANVILLE, of Empingham and Normanton, Rutland. He died shortly before 9 August 1295. She was living 1 April 1326. (c) On the day of the Conception of the Virgin, 9 Edward I. This Adam, who did homage and had livery of his mother's lands, 12 Aug 1252, was son and heir of Robert de Everingham (who d. in Jun 1246), by Isabel (who d. shortly bef. 14 Jul 1252), sister and heir of Thomas de Birkin (who dsp. shortly bef. 10 Oct 1230), and daughter of John de Birkin, which John and Thomas were of Laxton, Notts, and Birkin, co. York, etc. and Keepers of Sherwood Forest. The said Robert and Isabel had livery of her inheritance 21 Nov 1230, and after his death she did homage and had livery of her lands 10 Jul 1246.

Sir Robert de Everingham was the son and heir of Adam de Everingham and his wife Maude, the daughter of Sir John Monceaux of Barmston. Sir Robert de Everingham was of Everingham, Yorkshire and Laxton and Shelford in Nottinghamshire. Sir Robert de Everingham married Lucia, the heiress of her father Robert Thwenge and the widow of William Lattimer of Yorkshire. Sir Robert de Everingham served as keeper of Sherwood Forest during his short lifetime. His son and heir Adam de Everingham (1279-1341) succeded him as Lord of Laxton. Sir Robert de Everingham's tomb and effigy can be found in St. Michael's Church in the village of Laxton, Nottinghamshire.
