Roger Mason, Sr.

The will of Roger Mason, Sr. of Hyde County, NC, dated December 23rd, 1754, lists names for a large family. Included are:

• Mary (wife, who was living when the will was drafted)
• Benjamin Mason (son and executor)
• Thomas Mason (son and executor)
• John Mason (son, one shilling)
• Roger Mason, Jr. (son, one shilling)
• Christopher Mason (grandson, son of Benjamin?)
• Roger Mason (grandson, son of Benjamin?, property plus eighteen months schooling)
• David Mason (grandson, son of Benjamin?)
• Samuel Mason (grandson)
• Moses Mason (grandson, wording of the will suggests that Moses' father was deceased)
• Susannah Mason (granddaughter, twelve months schooling)

Witnesses were Jean/Jane Tule/Tuley, John Tule/Tuley, and Jacob Tule/Tuley

With just one or two exceptions, it appears that most of the grandkids named in the will were under 22 years old. And in some cases, their inherited property was to be managed by son, Benjamin.

No daughters were named in his will, just the one granddaughter and his wife.
