Notes WILLIAM MASON: William Traveled to Virginia with his older brother "Capt. George Mason on the ship Assurance, landing in upper Norfolk in late December 1651. They left from Bristol, England enroute to the Virginia Colony. They Landed at Norfolk and William and George, moved on to Potomac Creek. "Early Virginia Emigrants" 1623-1666 page 220 lists William Mason in 1652. Soon after however William moved back to Norfolk and set up his own family seat. It would be some years later that William Mason and his family would move from the Norfolk area to Pasquotank Precinct North Carolina.
