About Roger Meckes
Son of Samuel W Meckes and Isabella G Ziegenfuss.
Roger was confirmed 5 November 1898 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Albrightsville, PA.
On 12 September 1918 Roger registered for the draft of World War I. At that time he was living at Albrightsville and was a farmer. He was tall and of medium build, with brown eyes and dark hair.
In 1935 and 1957 Roger was living at Albrightsville, PA.
Roger was married to his first wife, Mellie Frances Eschenbach, by Rev. W. C. L. Lauer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Albrightsville (Carbon County marriage license #8900) on 13 Dec 1909; and to his second wife, Marie C. Getz, by Rev. William M. Geiger (Carbon County marriage license #18723) 15 Jun 1929.

Roger and his family lived at "Fairview Farm" about two miles south of the old Meckes homestead. The farm lay on 76 acres of cleared land. Roger was a potato grower and was also known as the "Christmas Tree King." He was 5 feet, 10 1/2 inches tall and weighed about 230 pounds. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Effort and a 32nd degree Mason of the Jim Thorpe Order. The family worshipped at the Lutheran Church at Albrightsville. He died in the Odd Fellows Home in Dauphin County, PA. (Obit in "The Morning Call", Allentown, Friday, 26 December 1958, p. 32; PA death certificate #110379)
