Rosa Manuela Mandri

Rosa Manuela Mandri came from a prominent Spaniard family. Rosa was born in Puerto Rico although her family came from Catalonia, Spain. Her father immigrated to Puerto Rico in 1828. His grandfather was a well known doctor of Catalonia, Dr. Grau Mandri. Rosa married Jacques Henrij on 1 Aug 1883 in Den Haag, Nederland. Leaving behind her spanish roots for a new life as a dutch wife of Jacques and to become close friend of historical figure (Lady Katrini), Raden Ajeng Kartini. Katrini was prominent Indonesian national heroine. She was considered a pioneer in education for girls and women's rights for Indonesians.
