Rose was born in Popielow poland in 1875. She came to Wisconsin with her parents at the age of nine in 1884.

Her parents settled on a farm in Wickham Valley (rural Independence) that is now owned by Bernard Kampa (2011).

Rose married Frank Gavol in 1900 and the couple farmed the home Gavol farm in the Town of Hale . This farm was next operated by their son Peter. The farm is on Gavol Road and is near the Whitehall Rod & Gun Club and lake.

Mrs. Frank Gavol
INDEPENDENCE, Wis. (Special) - Mrs. Frank Gavol, 82, died Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. at the home of her son, Peter, Town of hale, with whom she had resided. She had been in failing health two years.
The former Rose Kampa was born in Poppeleau, Germany, March 22, 1875. Her husband died Jan. 4, 1957.
Surviving are one son, Peter; one daughter, Mrs. Adolph (Mary) Passon, Independence, three brothers, Matt, Michael and Andrew, and one sister, Mrs. Tom (Frances) Slaby, Arcadia.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Lucian J. Kufel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dominic, Lawrence and Louis Kampa, Everett Slaby, LaVerne Auer and Ralph Skroch, all nephews of Mrs. Gavol. Another nephew, Peter Kampa will be banner carrier.
The Rosary will be said at M.A. Wiemer Funeral Home today and Friday at 8 p.m.
