About Roy Bernard Sparkia
Roy Sparkia in designed and created the Empire State Building illuminated panels depicting the 7 wonders of the world, and the 8th—the Empire State Building. These 5’ x 7’ crystal resin and stained glass panels were installed in the lobby in 1963.
Artwork by Roy Sparkia, on display in the lobby of the Empire State Building. This depicts the Lighthouse of Pharos (Alexandria), with others in the lobby representing the other Seven Wonders of the World, and the eighth wonder - the Empire State Building.
His widow, Renee Nemerov is the daughter of artist David Nemerov, sister of Howard Nemerov, former Poet Laureate of the United States, and noted photographer Diane Arbus. She is now married to artist Tom Brown.
