About Roy Jones
Roy Jones
The first death to a W. P. A. worker in Henry County occurred last week, when a rock, weighing 65 pounds, fell 75 feet from overhead at the Lockport Quarry Friday morning, fatally injuring Roy Jones, 27, father of four children. Jones was given first aid at the quarry by Dr. L. E. Elliott, Lockport physician, and then taken to the Shelbyville hospital, where he died at 5:40 Sunday morning.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Drennon Chapel. Burial was in the Drennon Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Dora Kopp Jones; four children: Chester Allen, 7, Emma Kathleen, 5, Roy Glenn, 2, and Jean Carroll, 11 months; one sister: Mrs. Susie Tingle; five brothers: Floyd Jones, Forrest Jones, Noble Jones, Elton Jones and Dewey Florence Jones.
