Rt. Rev. Herbert Croft was ordained in 1626 Roman Catholic priest. He reverted to the Church of England and became an Anglican parson. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. He held the office of Dean of Hereford. He held the office of Bishop of Hereford in 1662. He was Chaplain to King Charles II. He held the office of Dean of the Chapel-Royal in 1667.
