About Salvatore Sam Calienni
GEDCOM Note
Salvatore was married to Rosa Soria, sister of Dominic (Domenigo) Soria. They were living in New York in 1911. In about 1913 he abandoned his wife to run away with his sister-in-law, Maria Francesca Locuoco who was unhappily married to Gorgio Panno (a cousin). She hid in New Orleans until he could get away from the family. He even participated in "searching" for her, knowing full well where she was. She took her mother's jewelry to help finance the "elopement." After Salvatore made his way to New Orleans, they sailed to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they married and raised a large family. He was a tailor by trade and had the reputation of being a vain philanderer. Frances had many children, but spent a lot of time in a "sanitarium" after suffering from what was most likely post-partum depression. My mother and two of her sisters visited with their double cousins in about 1990. Attillo Calienni, son of their Uncle Michaele, (brother of Rosa, Salvatore, Pasquale, Battista, Caterina, etc., took them to Parana to meet his sons Duelo and Romolo Calienni. Salvatore's family live mostly in Bueno Aires. Pasquale's family setteled in Vermont, USA.
