Biography

"Samuel Butler. b. 1666, prob. at Wethersfield, m. abt 1686 to Sarah --, and d. 1706, prob. at Southampton, L. I. His name first appeared on the list of 1698. He was a merchant. In 1697 he bought from Walter Melvine the former residence of Mr. Josiah Foster. In addition, he owned ten acres of land which he inherited from his father, of whose estate he was administrator until his death, when his widow was allowed to conclude this service. Their children, named in his will, were:
