About Samuel Dyer, JR
A son of Samuel Dyer and Celia Bickley, he was born in Albemarle County Virginia. In 1823 he came with his family to Callaway County and is known as the second merchant of Fulton. He prospered in his new home and it was with shock and sadness that he died at such a young age. He left behind a bereaved widow, eight children, and a ninth born two months after his death who would live two short years. His widow increased his estate, his children carried on his legacy, married well, raised families that have impacted the world in a positive manner.
His grave is located on land donated to the city by his wife and children for the purpose of a cemetery.
