Samuel Hammond was one of the 124 Patriots disguised as Mohawk Indians who threw 342 chests of tea overboard into Boston Harbor on the night of Dec. 16, 1773, which episode was known as the Boston Tea Party. A statue was unveiled to his memory at Brattleboro Vt., June 14, 1917 (See Vermont Phoenix of June 8, 1917, Also records of Battleboro DAR Chapter.
