About Samuel Harper
Excerpt from "The Livezey Family" by Charles Harper Smith: "Samuel Harper acquired his father's house and shop in Oxford township by deed of gift shortly after his first marriage. In 1760 he was a subscriber to the first school in Frankford. In 1769 he was assessed in Oxford for 1 1/2 acres of land, 1 horse, 1 cow and 1 servant. Later he is said to have operated a gimlet factory in Cheltenham township. The Census of 1790 lists him as a resident of Bristol township and the head of a household consisting of 2 males over 16, 1 male under 16, and 4 females. His home in Bristol was a house that had once been an inn, located on York Road not far from the present Chelten Avenue crossing."
