Transcript from http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/wilkes/bibles/parks02.txt " This book was wet and damaged spring 1853 when returning from Texas trying to swim on horseback one of the bayou's in the north of La. and also had myself and all my belongings wet and damaged. E.M. Parks (This book belonged to Elijah M. Parks, great grandson of John, grandson of George, son of James Lafayette Parks.)

The sons of Thomas Parks were as follows: John Parks died in Tenn. Thomas Parks died in Wilkes County, N.C.* Rueben Parks died in Tenn. Aaron Parks died in Tenn., near Fayett Ambrose Parks died in Misouri William Parks died West These are the children of T. Parks of brother to John, my grandfathers father. according to the memory of Benjamin Parks of Wilkes County, N.C. This August 9 1848.

Martin Parks inspector at Lynchburg and William, brothers were the sons of William killed at Powell's Valley in Amherst Co. Va. some of them are living 12 miles above Lynchburg near James River.

9. SAMUEL LINED4 PARKS (JOHN3, THOMAS2, JOHN1) was born November 28, 1757 in Amherst Co NC, and died October 23, 1844 in Burke Co, NC. He married ELIZABETH HARBISON14 Abt. 1778 in Wilkes Co NC.

Possible Residence Burke Co., NC after 1795.

Widow daughter and her children lived with them.

Samuel's birth date is also given as 28 Nov 1757.

Samuel left all his property and slaves to daughter Betsy Penland. Executors though were John S Parks and John Parks. On file was a charge to Samuel's estate by John S Parks "Six gallons of Brandy @ 50 cents per gal. Total $3.00". Also $1.00 was paid by John S for plank to make a coffin on 15 Oct 1846.

Notes for GEORGE PARKS:
George and Polly and their children migrated to Monroe Co., IN with George Parks' wagon train in 1815.

W R Lawrence, child of Eliza and John Lawrence, has stated that George and Polly Parks first settled in TN, near Columbia, where his mother was born.

W R Lawrence also stated George's second wife, Sally Chambers was a widow, and mother of Nancy Puitt, who married Elijah Moore, son of Daniel and Rachel (Stone) Moore (parents of Polly Moore, wife of George II).

W R Lawrence states Juletta and Cynthia had no children, but records show at least one daughter for Juletta.

Notes for BENJAMIN F PARKS:
Benjamin was a Baptist minister and was pastor of the Vernal Baptist Church in Monroe Co. IN.

On the 1850 census, Warren Twp, Putnam Co., IN: Benjamin was 64 with $3000 assets. Samuel and James were still at home. Also daughters Mary J and Nancy Piercy, with 2 small children, James T and Samuel J Piercy. Possibly husband has died. Louisa has also died and a child of her's is also in home with Benjamin and Polly, a Louisa T Johnston, age 8.

Benjamin and Polly were first cousins.

The Jenkins-Parks cemetery is located on US 40, 35 miles east of Terre Haute, on a farm 1 1/2 miles north of Putnamville.
