The census of 1698, Town of Hempstead was taken August 1698. The original was kept at New York State library. In Hempstead Town it lists Samuel Rainor (Raynor) and his wife Mary Rainor (Raynor), their children Samuel IV, Mary, John, Martha, and Ezekiel. these children were born between 1670 -1698. Other children were later unrecorded were Elizabeth, Benjamin, Hannah, and Jonathan.

1684 - Samuel granted home lot, at the south side of the Valentine lot.

1685 - Freeholders show Samuel owned 43 acres.

May 16, 1692 - Samuel was granted another 25 acres at South Woods, laid out by Captain John Seaman.
