Relations with the Rogers Family
Excerpts from History of New London, Connecticut..." [2]
James Rogers is supposed to be the James Rogers, who came to America, in the Increase, 1635, aged 20. As James Rogers, he is first known to us at Stratford, where he married Elizabeth, daughter of Samuel Rowland, and afterward found at at Milford, where his wife united with Mr. Prudden's church in 1645, and himself in 1652.
Wife: unknown
Child:
- Daughter Elizabeth married James Rogers of Milford and New London, she died about 1709. "In 1637 James Rogers was one of six men from Saybrook, who, under Capt John Underhill, took part in the Pequot war. A few years later he is recorded as of Stratford, where he acquired property and married Elizabeth, daughter of Samuel Rowland."[3] Their grandson, James Rogers, was the executor of Elizabeth (Rowland) Rogers' will. [3] Samuel Rowland left his farm to Samuel Rogers of New London, his grandson, which leads to the supposition that Elizabeth was his only child.
