SAMUEL born 20 Oct 1644 married 1st ESTHER DUNHAM 2nd ELIZABETH PIERCE

Samuel remained in Woodbridge where he married first wife, Esther Dunham, who died in 1689. In 1692, he married his second wife, Elizabeth Pierce. He received a grant of 103 acres in 1676, served in the New Jersey Assembly and was a prominent citizen of Woodbridge. Samuel’s son, Shubael Smith, was born in Woodbridge, January 2,1692 and married Prudence Fitz-Randolph, grandaughter of Nathaniel Fitz-Randolph. Shubael Smith, second, was a mariner, plying his trade between the Jersey and Long Island coasts. Hence it was that Huntington, Long Island became the home of members of his family.
