About Samuel Fielding Underwood
Samuel Fielding and Elizabeth (Land) Underwood are said to have been the first Underwoods to come to Haywood Co., NC. They came from Towns Co., GA and settled in what was called the East Waynesville area of Haywood County. It is thought that Fielding's brother Barrett (who married Polly Daily) also came from Georgia to East Waynesville at about the same time.
