About Samuel Whitney

Among other things, Samuel Whitney is the great great grandfather of Sarah Ann Whitney Kimball who was first plural wife to Joseph Smith and later plural wife to Heber Kimball, Apostle. She was Heber Kimball's 10th wife, one of 43 wives and bore him 7 children.

Samuel Whitney's grandson, Samuel, married a Kimball. Their son, Bishop Newell Whitney, was the father of Sarah Ann Kimball. Apparently there are New England Kimballs and Utah Kimballs, and never the twain shall meet.

Born in Dec., 1710 in Weston, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA and died Aug. 2, 1788 in Shrewsbury, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA. He was the son of Mercy Robinson and Nathaniel Jr. Whitney of Weston, Mass. He married Elizabeth Hastings of Watertown, Mass.; Marriage Intentions were published 13 October 1734 at Weston, Mass. and Marriage was 8 April 1735 at Watertown, Mass.

Burial: (some confusion here): Mountainview Cemetery, Shrewsbury, Worcester, Massachusetts.
