Subject: Sea Capt William Willard, Jr & Mary Margaret "Polly" Larkins
...Mary's oldest son, "Samuel" (b1808) died at Sea in a storm in Maumee Bay (Toledo/Erie) just like his Grandfather Samuel, Uncle Lewis, brother William & several Larkin cousins. He was named after his Grandfather SAMUEL who lived in CT between the Mystic & Pawcatuck River's & had relatives all over those parts of CT & RI. He was a CT Whaleboat Privateer in the Rev War & a sailor in the West Indies Trade who was sick & lost at Sea when his kids were small. After Samuel's early death, Mary's mom evidently remarried another sailor friend of her husband but then died young herself, yet may have had more children...
