About Sancho Alfonso of Castile
Sancho of Alburquerque (1342 - 1375) is known in Spanish as Sancho de Castilla, Infante de Castilla, 1. Conde de Alburquerque.
He was the ninth of the ten illegitimate children of King Alfonso XI of Castile and Lady Eleanor of Guzman.
He was born in Seville. He participated in a revolt of the Castilian nobles against the despotic rule of his brother Pedro of Castile.
In 1373 he married Beatrice of Portugal, daughter of Peter I of Portugal and Ines de Castro. They had two children: Fernando Sanchez, 2nd Count of Alburquerque, and Eleanor of Alburquerque, who married Ferdinand I of Aragon.
He also had an illegitimate daughter, Eleanor Sanchez of Castile

Sancho de Castilla, el noveno de los diez hijos extramatrimoniales de Alfonso XI y su amante Leonor de Guzmán, nació en la ciudad de Sevilla en 1342. Su padre falleció en 1350 y le sucedió en el trono su hijo legítimo, Pedro I.
En abril de 1366, su hermano Enrique, que se hallaba en guerra con Pedro I, le nombró conde de Alburquerque, señor de Ledesma, de Alba de Liste, de Medellín, Tiedra y Montalbán. Junto con sus hermanos Enrique (futuro Enrique II de Castilla), Fadrique y Tello, Sancho luchó contra su hermanastro Pedro I.
También participó en la sublevación de los nobles castellanos, motivados por el descontento que produjeron los crímenes del rey Pedro, quien pasaría a la historia con el sobrenombre de «el Cruel».
