About Sara Packer

Two of Sarah and Philip's 3 sons were killed at the Battle of Boyne in Ireland, William on 6/7/1690 and James on 7/12/1690. Philip Packer, Esq. married secondly, on December 29, 1666 in Marylebone, England to his long-time mistress, Sarah Isgar ( b. 1625 in West Lavington, Wiltshire, to William Isgar and Elizabeth Sainsburie; d. 17 Sept. 1677 at Groombridge Estate, buried in the Groombridge Church in front of the altar.) All 3 of Philip and Sarah's sons were illegitimate. The youngest was aged 4 when his parents married. The boys were raised on their father's Irish estate, and did not reside at Groombridge with their mother. Two of the sons, William and James, died in battles. Their remaining son, Philip indentured himself to Joseph Fisher, a Quaker, and came with him to Pennsylvania in 1683. This is the Philip Packer of Chester County, PA that is the ancestor of the prominent Packer family of Pennsylvania.
