Sarah Baldwin

Sarah Baldwin, dau. of Elijah Baldwin and Sarah Harris Mathewson, was b. in Plainfield, Conn.on Nov. 17,1846. She moved with her parents to Canterbury, in 1855, and resided there. She m. with BROOKS HADLEY, b. July 15,1845, Stoneham, Mass,of Boston, Mass.when she met him. He d. Oct. 28,1886 and he is b. at Baldwin Cemetery, Canterbury, Ct. He was a leather dealer.

Children were: Sarah L. (1871), Henry B. (1873), and David B. (1875).

• 1850 US census: Sarah, aged 3, in Plainfield, Ct. w parents.
• 1870 US census: Sarah, aged 23, in Canterbury, Ct. w family.
• 1880 US census; Sarah, now married and listed as Sarah B. Hadley, aged 33, resides with her parents and siblings in Canterbury. Her children: Sarah L. (8), Henry B. (7) and David B. (5) are with her also.
• 1900 US census: Sarah B., aged 53, in Canterbury w son David B (25) and dau. Sarah L. (28). Sarah is a farmer, son a farm laborer, dau. a teacher (in school). Sarah was b. 11/1846. It is noted that her brother Henry and mother Sarah live next door.
