Sarah Brewster, daughter of Love and Sarah Collier, was born say 1635 in Plymouth Colony in the section that is now Duxbury, Massachusetts, United States. Her father, Love, left her a bequest in his 1650 will.[1]

Sarah married Benjamin Bartlett probably in Duxbury, after 4 April 1654 and probably before 8 Aug 1655. Benjamin was the son of Robert and Mary (Warren) Bartlett. Sarah was Benjamin's second wife. His first was Susannah Jenny who was deceased before 4 April 1654, when her mother made a bequest in her own will to "elder Thomas Cushman the Bible which was my Daughter Susanna's. Benjamin married a third time to Cecelia ____.[1]

The proof of the marriage between Benjamin Bartlett and Sarah Brewster lies the circumstantial evidence found in several Plymouth records.[1]

  • A letter from Jonathan Brewster to his widowed sister-in-law Sarah (Collier) Brewster, 1 Sept 1656, gave Sarah's daughter [unnamed but Sarah (Colliier) Brewster had only one daughter] land.
  • 7 Feb 1664/5 Benjamin Bartlettdemanded land in Alcarmus Field formerly belonging to William Brewster [grandfather of Sarah and father of Jonathan]
  • 5 Mar 1667/8 The court ordered the claim "unto some land given by Mr. Jonathan Brewster, deceased, unto his wife ... be allowed.
  • 2 Mar 1668/9 the court ordered the four acres to be "laid out"
  • Documents prove that Benjamin had an unnamed wife, whose maiden name was Brewster (giving her claim to the Brewster land). She was niece to Jonathan Brewster and daughter of his brother Love. Jonathan's letter gave his niece land and Sarah was the only daughter of Love living 6 Oct 1650.[1]

Sarah Bartlett died after 5 Mar 1667/8 (she was mentioned in a court case) and before 21 Jan 1678/9 (her husband's third wife consented to the sale of land).[1]
