DIED at Port Elizabeth on the 3rd inst, after a protracted illness, Sarah, wife of Mr. Chas. GURNEY, Market-master, deeply regretted by numerous relatives and friends.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarah and John Cadle sailed from Deptford after a delay because the Thames was frozen leaving Deptford on Dec 13th 1819. The ship was delayed by storms and reached Plymouth around the 28th Dec. They finally sailed on January 1st 1820. After a stop at Torbay they left England on the 2nd Jan 1820. Sarah's daughter Sarah Georgina remained behind, with her brother John Cotton Moore. The eldest daughter Mary Catherine went with her mother and sadly she died a few weeks after John Cadle was drowned. It is possible the two children went to live with either their grandmother Elizabeth in London, or possibly with friends, the Bretts who may have been god-parents, who lived in Colchester.
Edward Brett remembered Sarah Georgiana in his will although John is not mentioned.
