Sarah Ratcliff was born about 1620 in Lancashire, England and her parents were Elizabeth (Cotchings, c1600-c1679) and Richard Ratcliff, Sr. (c1585–1630).

"John Copeland, son of Lawrence, born in 1612, sailed to America in 1635 on the "Assurance de Lo". He had married, possibly outside his local community, a Miss Radcliffe from Lancaster".
Sarah Ratcliffe married John Joseph Copeland [2] (1615–1690).
She died about 1675 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. [3]
