DEATH OF MRS. JAMES EATHER.

In the death of Mrs. James Eather, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Lynam, "Fairview," Bowenfels, on Thursday morning, there passed away one of the district's oldest residents.

Deceased, who was 77 years of age, was born at Richmond, N.S. Wales, where she married in 1863, and came to live on the mountains. The greater portion of her life was spent, in the Hartley district.

Coming to reside at Bowenfels, Mr. and Mrs. Eather took over the old Bowenfels hotel, which is now the residence of Mr. J. T. Cary, and when the license was transferred to the boarding house opposite (now the Royal Hotel), they were also in charge. Later they conducted the Cosmopolitan hotel (now Exchange) Lithgow, a hotel at Mudgee, and one at Rooty Hill.

Mrs. Eather reared a family of two sons and four daughters (Note: alive at this time).

(The Husband) Mr. James Eather, who is still alive, is 82 years of age.

Death was due to pneumonia. A good deal of sympathy has been expressed with those bereaved.
