About Sarah Glenn
Some question exists as to the parents of Sarah Shelton, which is not yet proven.
Michael Motes wrote in 2004 [https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/glenn/3135/]: "Undocumented data found at Rootsweb states that Thomas Shelton, born 1705 Middlesex Co., VA; died after 1788, possibly in Surry Co., NC, married (1) Ann Pollard and (2) Lucy Austin by whom he had the following children: Agnes m. Joseph Gentry, Eleanor, Sarah, Henry, William, Peter, and David Shelton. Can anyone provide documentation for these children being those of Thomas and Lucy (Austin) Shelton?
"I believe that the daughter Sarah is the Sarah Shelton who married Tyree Glenn, whose will was probated in Surry Co., NC in February 1775 and to whom Samuel Gentry (possibly a nephew by marriage) was a witness. The estate settlement of Tyree Glen mentions debts due to estate from Thomas Shelton. Further circumstantial evidence connecting Tyree Glenn and Sarah Shelton to the family of Thomas Shelton is that the name “Thomas” does not appear in the Glenn family until the birth of Thomas Glenn, Tyree’s son. The name Agnes also does not appear until the birth of Tyree Glenn’s daughter Agnes “Aggie” who married Joseph Royal “Joroyal” Barnett."
