notes
From http://genforum.com/hand/messages/541.html: About 100 years ago it was incorrectly stated that just after 1669, the year of the death of his first wife, Sarah Stratton, that Stephen Hand married his sister in law Rebecca Stratton Bushnell. This would imply that this Rebecca born a Stratton, a sister of Sarah, married first a Bushnell and then secondly married to STEPHEN HAND. This is incorrect, but, genealogists have been going thru contortions to make the facts fit this fantasy for over 100 years. Some have also tried to attribute an excess of children to Stephen Hand and shifted their birthdates to before 1668 in order that they would appear to be born of his first wife, Sarah Stratton. Others have simply given up and list all of Stephen's nine children under Stephen and Sarah, even though five of them were born after she died and was buried.

- 1645 at an unspecified location (attested on her 2nd Find A Grave memorial, conflicts with her 1st Find A Grave memorial)
- circa 1662 at East Hampton, Sussex County, New York (maybe attested in her FamilySearch Ancestral File Record, conflicts with her date of marriage and her 1st Find A Grave memorial)
