Sarah Hardgrave

Sarah (Greer), born 1751 (?). John's (Greer) will shows that she married a Hardgrave, probably his neighbor, Capt. Francis Hartgrave. E. R. Whitley's HARGRAVE - HARGROVE FAMILY states that this Francis did have a wife Sarah, born in 1751, but gives her maiden name as Skelton, which may be incorrect (Francis, of course, might have had two wives named Sarah). Francis Hardgrave accompanied John Greer Jr. to Davidson County, Tennessee and administered the latter's estate in 1803. He made his will there 22 February 1827, proven 10 November 1828. Sarah Hargrave made her will 12 September 1832, proven 30 November 1832, witnessed by A. Demoss, another Greer relative." (OUR GREER FAMILY HERITAGE, 1983, by Thomas H. Mentions his wife, Nancy - whole of plantation where I live; Jessey Greer - above at decease of wife; Dau, Ann Mitchell, negro girl Pheby and no more; Hannah Demoss - negro girl, Hannah; Balance of estate to be equally divided between Aquilla, John, Benjamin, Joshua, Jessey Greer, Rachel Mitchell, Sarah Hardgrave and Hannah Demoss. Execr: wife, Nancy. Friend, John Brown. Wit: Archelus Walker, Nancy Walker and Sarah Greer.

Sarah's parents are unknown at this time. She married Francis Hardgrave in 1769 in Augusta Co VA. Sarah died at age 81 yrs.
