Sarah Belt charged with bastardy in Baltimore Co., June 1728 court and
fined Nov 1728 at which time John Belt posted bond for her.

Benoni Belt was named executor of the will of William Peddicord Jr. but
declined to serve.

The records of Dr Wisenthal: list Bonoia Belt as son-in-law to Wm Peddicord
Sr account of 0.9.6 (records from probate of Dr Wisenthal's estate in
1789. records thought to be from 1760s to 1770s and contains over 1600 names.

I believe there is at least one other record I have seen that indicates
Benoni Belt was the step son of William Peddicoart. I have no records, but
it seems that Benoni was likely raised in the Wm Peddicord household and
went to Washington Co as did Nathan Peddicord.

I was short on time and did not write down the exact title and author, by
basically it was called Baltimore County Bastardy Cases 167? - 1776 or the
like.

Of course this raises the point who was Benoni's father - that I do not
know and the record does not mention it.

We could do a lot of speculation given the timeframe and customs of the
day, maybe it was William or maybe his brother John who fled to VA after
getting out of debtors prison.

Found a new book tonight that listed some Bastardy cases from Baltimore Co.

Another interesting one Benoni Belt, who was the bastard step-son of
William Peddicoart, well Benoni himself had a child out of wedlock and was
fined in the 1757 court. He is listed as Benoni the son of Sarah Belt in
that case.

Sarah Belt was charged with bastardy in Baltimore Co., June 1728 and fined Nov 1728 at which time John Belt posted bond. Robert Barnes’ Baltimore County Families states the illegitimate child was Benoni Belt born 1728. This Benoni Belt was apparently raised by John and Sarah, Benoni Belt was named executor of the will of William Peddicord Jr. but declined to serve.

the records of Dr Wisenthal list Bonoia Belt as son-in-law to Wm Peddicord Sr with an account of 0.9.6 (records from probate of Dr Wisenthal's estate in 1789 with records thought to be from 1760s to 1770s and contains over 1600 names). Also in the accounts of Dr Wisenthal are Wm Peddicord Sr. listed at 2.4.6 and Nathan Peddicord at 0.8.0. Benoni Belt signed the Oath of Fidelity to MD in 1778 in Washington Co., MD. (along with Nathan Peddicord).
