Notes for Sarah BELT
Sarah Belt was tried for having a bastard child in Nov. 1728 when John Belt paid a bond for her. The child was named Benoni. Benoni had been designated to be the executor for William Peddicord, Jr.'s will, but he refused to serve. (Baltimore County Wills, 3:374, MSA) Benoni was also fined for "bast." in Nov. 1758, according to Robert Barnes in his Baltimore Families, 1659-1759.

This Benoni Belt was apparently raised by John and Sarah, Benoni Belt was named executor of the will of William Peddicord Jr. but declined to serve. the records of Dr Wisenthal list Bonoia Belt as son-in-law to Wm Peddicord Sr with an account of 0.9.6 (records from probate of Dr Wisenthal's estate in 1789 with records thought to be from 1760s to 1770s and contains over 1600 names). Also in the accounts of Dr Wisenthal are Wm Peddicord Sr. listed at 2.4.6 and Nathan Peddicord at 0.8.0. Benoni Belt signed the Oath of Fidelity to MD in 1778 in Washington Co., MD. (along with Nathan Peddicord). |
