GEDCOM Note
DARN THAT EARTHQUAKE! Sarah & John Tarlton Fleming died in San Francisco where they resided with their dtr. Lydia & her husband Wm. Marcus Tirtlot. They were both buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetary in SF at "the foot of Lone Mtn". Their gravemarker read: "Rest In Peace Beloved Parents" The 1906 earthquake cause so much damage that the cemetary was dismantled with reburials in Colma. The damaged gravestones are said to have been used for landfill & to make the breakwater for S.F. bay. The S.F. records for Fleming were lost in the earthquake.
«i» NOTE: See notes for son-in-law William Marcus Tirtlot/Tourtelotte. Sally & husband apparently went to Thurston Co., Washington Territory with daughter Lydia & her husband. Then latter to San Francisco where both Sarah & John Tarlton died. «/i» ------------------------------ Cousin Beverly Long says that Sarah "Sallie" Turner married Reverend John Tarleton Fleming. I do not know the source for this. --------------------------------
[See notes for Rena Fleming-her memoirs: she talks about Sally Turrner & Rena's father Thomas Jefferson Fleming & his grandfather Turner.]
