About Sarah Tarenheim

  • Date of birth identified in German National Archives, Memorial Book
  • Place of birth is presently problematic: The Memorial Book entry below identifies her place of birth as "Jerusalem, Ostmannisches Reich." But it seems more probable that S. Tarenheim was born in the village of Jerusalem near Meiningen in Thüringen and that she moved to Chemnitz to find employment or upon marriage. The list of those deported from Chemnitz to Belzyce Ghetto identifies her birth place as "Jerusalem" and the entry in Bastler below does not tell us anything further.
  • Identified as wife/widow of NN Tarnheim in https://www.berlin.de/lstu/.../mdb-lstu-schriftenreihe-heft27_beson...
  • Identified as mother of two daughters, who were able to immigrate into England, in Klaus Bastler. The daughters are identified as Malke and Eva in the National Archives, Home Office: Aliens Department: Internees Index, 1939-1947, https://search.findmypast.co.uk/results/world-records/britain-enemy...
  • Place of death, see Memorial Book entry below..
  • 50. Sarah Tarenheim, Gewerbebetrieb, Chemnitz, Hermann-Fischer-Str. 10 – Dezember 1939. Dezember 1939 aufgegeben."
